Bengaluru police have arrested a 38-year-old proclaimed offender who was allegedly involved in 68 criminal cases across Karnataka and had been evading arrest despite multiple warrants.
The accused, identified as Syed Abrar, was apprehended during the investigation of a house-breaking and theft case registered at the Banaswadi Police Station earlier this year. Police said Abrar had 39 non-bailable warrants (NBWs) pending against him and had also been declared a proclaimed offender in five cases.
According to investigators, a resident of Kalyan Nagar had lodged a complaint after unknown persons allegedly broke into his house and stole ₹10,000 in cash while he was away between March 14 and March 23. Acting on leads gathered during the probe, police tracked Abrar near Bagalur and arrested him on June 16. During questioning, he allegedly confessed to his involvement in the theft, police said.

Police said Abrar has been named in 68 criminal cases registered in Bengaluru, Kolar and Yadgir districts. His repeated failure to appear before courts in connection with pending cases had resulted in 39 non-bailable warrants and five proclamation proceedings being issued against him.
Following his arrest, police executed nine additional non-bailable warrants against him. He was produced before a court on June 17, taken into police custody for further interrogation and later remanded to judicial custody on June 20.
