The Bengaluru City Police have successfully dismantled a significant electronic theft racket, recovering 51 laptops, 25 mobile phones, and four two-wheelers valued at approximately ₹35 lakh. The operation involved coordinated efforts between the Jayanagar and Kumaraswamy Layout police stations.
The investigation began after a complaint was lodged on August 31, when a man discovered his parked car had been vandalized outside a coffee shop in Jayanagar’s 5th Block, leading to the theft of his laptop. Following a month-long investigation, police tracked down the main suspect in Salem, Tamil Nadu, resulting in the recovery of 17 laptops worth ₹12 lakh. The suspect revealed the location of his stash, hidden at his residence in Dadagapatti.
In a separate breakthrough, the Kumaraswamy Layout Police arrested three individuals involved in a series of thefts targeting mobile phones, laptops, and two-wheelers. Their investigation began after a complaint was filed on September 16. The police apprehended two suspects near Kadirenahalli Bridge, where they found a stolen two-wheeler, along with two laptops and one mobile phone. The duo subsequently led the police to a third accomplice.
In total, the recoveries from these operations included 34 laptops, 28 mobile phones, and four two-wheelers. The police also solved 16 laptop theft cases across various locations in Bengaluru, including Kumaraswamy Layout, Mico Layout, Girinagar, Electronic City, Marathahalli, Vidyaranyapura, HSR Layout, Madiwala, Whitefield, JP Nagar, and Bandepalya. Additionally, four two-wheeler theft cases and 11 mobile phone theft cases were resolved through this coordinated effort.
