For years, couples seeking privacy in their cars near parks and lakes in Bengaluru faced an unexpected menace—a fraudster posing as a policeman, blackmailing them for money under the pretense of public indecency charges.

After multiple complaints, Jayanagar police launched a hunt and finally arrested Asif Khan alias Pisto, 42, a Ganganagar resident with a long history of deception. A failed 10th grader and part-time autorickshaw driver, Khan had been running his con for 15 years, with 19 victims filing cases against him. Previously arrested in 2018, he resumed his tricks upon release.

Khan would approach couples in parked vehicles, falsely claim to be a cop, and threaten to book them for obscenity, coercing them into paying up. On March 5, he robbed a 41-year-old private firm employee near RV Metro Station, Jayanagar by taking his gold chain (12g), finger ring (5g), and forcing him to withdraw ₹10,000 from an ATM. Another couple was targeted on March 9.

Police linked him to at least three cases, including one from last year. So far, 80 grams of gold has been recovered, with further investigation ongoing. Victims are urged to contact Jayanagar police to reclaim stolen money.

With Khan behind bars, couples can now enjoy peaceful evenings without fear of fake cops.
