Bengaluru police have successfully apprehended four minors who had recently escaped from a children’s remand home. The group, known for their alleged involvement in snatching a gold chain and stealing vehicles, was captured after an intensive investigation. The police have recovered a gold chain weighing 30 grams, two two-wheelers, and an autorickshaw from the minors.

The investigation began following a July 14 incident where two minors on a two-wheeler snatched a 30-gram gold chain from a person en route to work. Using CCTV footage, authorities traced the minors to a location near Gangondanahalli Main Road on July 24, where they found the stolen vehicles.

According to police reports, the minors admitted to the crime, and valuables totaling Rs 4 lakh were recovered. On July 25, they were presented before a Juvenile Justice Board, which subsequently remanded them to the Madiwala remand home.

Further inquiries revealed that the minors had previously been apprehended by Byadarahalli police for mobile snatching and had been sent to a remand home in Devanahalli on June 30. They escaped on July 9 after breaking a lock on the back door.

B. Dayananda, Commissioner of Police, Bengaluru, announced that legal action would be taken against the minors’ parents under Section 75 of the Juvenile Justice Act for failing to provide proper care and supervision. Notices have been served to the parents, highlighting their responsibility in their children’s welfare.
