In response to a surge in traffic violations, Bengaluru West traffic police have intensified efforts against wrong-side driving on key city roads. Commuters, particularly bikers, were found flouting rules, prompting police to take action across all Bengaluru West traffic limits.

Traffic Offenses Addressed

Bengaluru police reported booking 241 individuals in a single day for driving on the wrong side, with a daily average of 284 such cases. The rise in complaints, including on social media, underscores the gravity of wrong-way driving incidents, often linked to fatal accidents.

Technological Solutions

To enhance enforcement, Bengaluru police have leveraged Artificial Intelligence through their Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS). This system aids in detecting violations such as speeding, signal jumping, helmet-less riding, triple riding, and mobile phone usage while driving.

Innovative Tools

The police force has also deployed drones to monitor traffic congestion and ensure smoother vehicle flow, reflecting their commitment to leveraging technology for better urban traffic management.

Comprehensive Enforcement

Beyond wrong-side driving, police have also cracked down on other violations like defective number plates and cell phone usage while driving, highlighting a holistic approach to ensuring road safety in Bengaluru.
