Bengaluru: A police inspector attached to the DJ Halli Police Station has landed in controversy after being accused of having an illicit affair and cheating a city-based beautician under the false promise of marriage.

According to sources, the woman, who works at a beauty salon in the city, was in a relationship with the officer for over one-and-a-half years before discovering that he had allegedly deceived her. Shocked and distressed, she approached the Karnataka Police Headquarters on October 21, 2025, and lodged a formal complaint seeking justice.

Complaint filed with police chief

In her complaint, the woman alleged that the inspector had developed a close relationship with her, promising marriage and maintaining contact over a prolonged period. She claimed that despite repeated assurances, he later began to avoid her calls and messages, leading her to suspect foul play.

Upon learning that the officer was allegedly already married, the woman confronted him and demanded accountability. When her pleas went unanswered, she escalated the matter to senior police authorities.

Probe likely to be initiated

Top police officials have reportedly taken note of the complaint and are expected to order an internal inquiry into the allegations.
Sources said the matter could also be referred to the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) if any violation of conduct rules is established.

“A detailed report will be sought from the jurisdictional police station once the complaint is verified,” a senior officer said, adding that disciplinary action could follow if the allegations are proven.

Police personnel under scrutiny

This is not the first time personnel from Bengaluru city police have faced misconduct allegations. The police department has, in recent months, tightened oversight on disciplinary issues and warned of strict action against officers misusing their position or engaging in unethical relationships.

Officials said such incidents not only tarnish the image of the police force but also erode public trust.
