Bengaluru: In a major crackdown on inter-state drug trafficking, Bengaluru City Police have seized narcotics worth ₹30.43 crore and arrested eight accused, including a foreign national, in a series of coordinated operations across the city.

Announcing the development, Karnataka Home Minister Priyank Kharge said police registered five cases and recovered 29 kg of MDMA, 20 grams of cocaine, and 1,000 ecstasy tablets. The seized drugs have an estimated market value of ₹30.43 crore, while their street value is believed to be around ₹60.86 crore.

Three major operations expose drug network

In the first operation, conducted under the jurisdiction of Hebbal Police Station, officers arrested a foreign national and seized 17.282 kg of MDMA valued at ₹17.28 crore. Police are investigating the inter-state drug supply network linked to the accused.

In a second operation, the Central Crime Branch (CCB) Anti-Narcotics Wing recovered 6.718 kg of MDMA and 20 grams of cocaine, collectively valued at ₹7.15 crore. Four suspects were arrested, and investigators are probing the source of the narcotics and the financial network behind the racket.

In the third case, registered by Girinagar Police Station, police seized 5 kg of MDMA and 1,000 ecstasy tablets worth approximately ₹6 crore.

Government reiterates zero-tolerance policy

Priyank Kharge said the Karnataka government remains committed to a zero-tolerance policy against narcotics and will continue taking strict action against those involved in the production, transportation, sale and consumption of illegal drugs.

He added that police units across the state are closely monitoring both inter-state and international drug trafficking networks. The minister also appealed to parents, educational institutions and the public to report suspicious activities and support efforts to build a drug-free society
