In a significant anti-encroachment operation, the Bengaluru Urban District Administration reclaimed over 8 acres of government land valued at approximately ₹50.05 crore on Friday. The district-wide crackdown was spearheaded by Deputy Commissioner G Jagadeesha and executed simultaneously across various taluks, under the guidance of respective tahsildars.

The reclaimed properties included grazing lands (gomala), burial grounds, public pathways, and community spaces that had been illegally occupied.

Major recoveries included:

  • Bengaluru East (KR Puram): 0.04 gunta of gundu topu land in Kodigehalli, worth ₹2.5 crore
  • Varthur hobli (Valepura village): 0.20 gunta of gomala land, valued at ₹5 crore
  • Anekal taluk: 0.01 gunta of grazing land in Ramanayakanahalli, worth ₹35,000
  • Bengaluru South (Parappana Agrahara): Encroached burial ground land cleared
  • Vajrahalli village: 0.18 gunta of gundu topu, worth ₹25 crore
  • Tavarekere hobli: 0.15 gunta of encroached public pathway cleared, worth ₹45,000
  • Bengaluru North (Dasanapura hobli): 2 acres and 0.22 gunta reclaimed in Bommashettihalli (₹5.1 crore)
  • Yelahanka taluk (Kakolu village): 3 acres and 0.22 gunta recovered in Hesaraghatta, worth ₹10.5 crore

Officials confirmed the drive is part of a sustained campaign to safeguard public lands, with more operations planned in the coming weeks
