As Bengaluru continues to battle heavy rains and flooding, some residents have found a silver lining in the water-logged streets by taking to fishing. In areas like Yelahanka, where lakes have overflowed, residents have successfully caught fish in the flooded streets. Videos shared online, including by an ANI journalist, show residents in Yelahanka’s Allalasandra proudly displaying their catch.

Despite the unusual activity, Yelahanka remains one of the worst-affected areas. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has been deployed to rescue residents from flooded buildings. In Kendriya Vihar, NDRF personnel used boats to help residents escape from inundated apartments, marking the second such incident in two weeks.

Yelahanka saw a staggering 157 mm of rain in just six hours from midnight to early Tuesday morning. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast more moderate to heavy rains for Bengaluru, with the city receiving 23.6 mm of rain in the last 24 hours. Residents remain cautious but are finding moments of levity amidst the chaos.
