Bengaluru’s schools are grappling with significant challenges due to above-normal monsoon rains, impacting both educational operations and infrastructure. Nearly 4,000 government school buildings across Karnataka have sustained structural damage from heavy rains this year, with Belagavi, Hassan, and Haveri being the hardest hit.

Belagavi district has reported damage to 1,901 school buildings, followed by Hassan with 591 and Haveri with 541. The Revenue Department has directed a shift from damaged buildings to temporary structures to ensure safety. Revenue Minister Krishna Byregowda has instructed district officials to implement these precautionary measures.

While none of the damaged buildings are considered dilapidated, they are deemed unsafe for students. The Department of School Education has issued instructions to ensure student safety, including relocating children from damaged buildings to safer locations.

In contrast, several districts, including Bengaluru Urban, Bengaluru Rural, and others, have reported no damage to school buildings.
