The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast light rainfall in Bengaluru starting Monday, with heavy showers, gusty winds, and thunderstorms expected by the weekend.
In its Sunday bulletin, the IMD noted that Southwest Monsoon activity remained normal over North Interior Karnataka, while being weak across Coastal and South Interior Karnataka, including Bengaluru. Rainfall was reported at many locations along the coast, at a few places in North Interior Karnataka, and isolated locations in the south.
On Monday, districts in South Interior Karnataka — Bengaluru, Chikkaballapura, Chamarajanagar, Mandya, and Ramanagara — are expected to receive light to moderate rain. As the week progresses, the showers are forecasted to intensify, with a weather warning in place for Tuesday.
The IMD warned of heavy rain and thundershowers with gusty winds (40-50 kmph) at isolated places in Bengaluru Urban and Rural, Chikkaballapura, Ramanagara, Tumakuru, and Kolar. Other regions like Chamarajanagar, Mandya, Mysuru, Hassan, Shivamogga, and Chikkamagaluru are likely to experience light to moderate rain with gusty winds.
In Coastal Karnataka, including Uttara Kannada, Dakshina Kannada, and Udupi, the IMD predicted light to very heavy rain with gusty winds. Similar conditions are expected in North Interior Karnataka — Belagavi, Dharwad, Haveri, and Gadag.
On Sunday, Bengaluru city recorded trace rainfall, with temperatures reaching a maximum of 31.8°C and a minimum of 21.6°C.
