Bengaluru: A 35-year-old software engineer accused of secretly filming a woman passenger aboard a Namma Metro train has denied the allegation during questioning by the Kadugodi police.

The accused, identified as Santosh K T, works for a private software company and resides in JP Nagar. According to a senior police officer, Santosh appeared before a court and secured bail before approaching the Kadugodi police station to give his statement.

He reportedly denied recording or filming the woman during questioning. After giving his statement, he left the police station, the officer said.

Mobile phone sent for forensic examination

Investigating officials suspect that the accused may have deleted the alleged footage from his mobile phone. However, police have not found any data indicating that a video was deleted from the device.

To establish whether any footage or other digital evidence was stored on the phone, the police have seized the device and sent it to cybercrime experts for forensic examination.

The forensic analysis is expected to help investigators determine whether the device contains any material relevant to the complaint.

Video of confrontation goes viral

The police had been searching for Santosh after a video showing a woman confronting and chasing a man at Kadugodi Metro station went viral on social media on Tuesday.

In the video, the woman accused the man of secretly filming her inside a Metro train. Following the incident, she approached the Kadugodi police and lodged a complaint.

Based on her complaint, the police registered an FIR and subsequently identified Santosh as the suspect.

Santosh’s denial has been recorded as part of the investigation, while the police are awaiting the results of the forensic examination of his mobile phone.

The allegation remains under investigation, and the forensic findings are expected to help establish the facts of the case.
