In a bid to set a Guinness World Record, students and faculty from National College and BMS College in Bengaluru pledged their commitment to water conservation on Monday.

Hundreds of participants vowed to minimize water wastage while brushing, cooking, bathing, and washing clothes. They also pledged to preserve groundwater, reuse water for gardening and vehicle cleaning, and safeguard natural water bodies for future generations.

Starting Tuesday, BWSSB officials and volunteers will visit households across the city, gathering signatures to strengthen the initiative, said BWSSB Chairman V Ram Prasad Manohar. The campaign, flagged off by Deputy CM DK Shivakumar on March 21 during the Cauvery Aarati ceremony, will run until Friday.

Operating under the theme ‘Water is Life—Save Water, Save Lives’, the movement aims to raise public awareness and drive participation from colleges, NGOs, industries, and IT firms. With Bengaluru grappling with a severe water shortage last summer, the initiative has gained urgency, Manohar noted.
