A 26-year-old software developer from Bengaluru has gone viral after sharing his rapid career growth, claiming he increased his salary from Rs 3.2 lakh per annum to Rs 80 lakh per annum within just three years.
Arka Mazumder, currently employed at Google, shared his journey on social media, highlighting how strategic job switches and focused preparation played a key role in his success.
From entry-level role to tech giant
Mazumder began his career in 2021 with Tata Consultancy Services under its Ninja programme, earning Rs 3.2 LPA as an assistant system engineer. He described himself as a fresh graduate eager to learn.
Within a year, after clearing internal assessments, he was promoted to system engineer, taking his salary to around Rs 7 LPA. During this period, he began intensive preparation in data structures and algorithms (DSA), a key requirement for product-based companies.
Consistent preparation and first breakthrough
By 2023, Mazumder said he was dedicating five to six hours daily to DSA practice and had solved over 380 problems on LeetCode, building strong problem-solving skills.
After months of job applications and multiple interview rejections, he secured a role at Kuku FM in 2024, where his salary increased to around Rs 14–15 LPA.
The biggest leap to Google
In 2025, Mazumder claimed he achieved his long-held goal of joining Google with a compensation package of Rs 80 LPA. He described this as the biggest leap in his career.
He added that his preparation did not stop after receiving the offer, as he continued solving advanced problems, taking his total to over 750 on LeetCode.
Mazumder said his journey began with limited guidance from a Tier-3 college background, but consistent effort helped him achieve his ambitions. He also expressed aspirations of retiring early and starting his own venture.
Mixed reactions on social media
While many users praised his determination, others expressed scepticism over the sharp salary jump, particularly from Rs 15 LPA to Rs 80 LPA.
Some questioned the realism of such a leap, while others shared their own slower career progress for comparison. Despite the criticism, Mazumder has maintained that his journey is genuine and reflects years of disciplined effort.
