Ripudaman, a 22-year-old engineer, recently shared a photo on X, revealing water leaking into his room in a ₹1.5 crore apartment in Bengaluru. “My room in a 1.5CR apartment on the 5th/16th floor is leaking water. These expensive buildings are such a scam, bro! The civil engineer inside me can’t comprehend this,” he wrote, expressing his frustration with the city’s high real estate prices and subpar construction quality. The image showed significant dampness on the ceiling, highlighting the disparity between the cost of living and the quality of construction in some of Bengaluru’s premium buildings.
The post quickly gained traction, with hundreds of users sharing their own experiences and concerns about the city’s real estate sector. Many echoed Ripudaman’s sentiments, criticizing developers for prioritizing profits over quality. Some advised him to investigate the leak’s cause and consider legal action.
One user suggested, “Might be a leakage in the floor above you. Happened with us. Upper floor had a pipe leak, and this started happening. If not fixed, drops will start falling slowly. Best is to have a standalone house.”
Another user commented on the possible causes, questioning whether it was due to poor-quality materials or engineering. Others speculated about cost-cutting measures by developers.
Bengaluru has been experiencing heavy rainfall, leading to waterlogging and flooding in several areas, which may contribute to leakage issues. Despite the high prices of these apartments, many residents still rely on water tankers for their daily needs due to a severe water crisis.
