In a bizarre attempt to console his upset girlfriend, a Bengaluru-based software professional made her sit on his lap while riding his Bullet motorcycle through the busy Sarjapur Main Road. Though his unconventional gesture lifted her spirits, it also caught the attention of the police, leading to his arrest on Friday. He was later released on station bail.

Acting on their own accord, Sarjapur police booked the techie—who resides in Bellandur—under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita Section 281 (reckless driving on public roads) and violations under the Motor Vehicles Act.

Investigations revealed that the Chennai-based techie, along with his friend, embarked on this risky ride at 12:30 PM on February 22. Having moved to Bengaluru two years ago, his girlfriend joined him last year. He later admitted, “She was feeling low, and despite taking her out, she remained upset. In an effort to cheer her up, I asked her to sit on my lap while I rode, never imagining it would land me in legal trouble.”

A fellow commuter recorded the incident and uploaded the video on X, triggering outrage among netizens who demanded action. Responding swiftly, the police tracked him down. The accused claimed his Tamil Nadu-registered Bullet had already been sent back to Chennai on Monday, but officers confirmed they would seize it once it returns to Bengaluru.
