Lakhs of Bengaluru residents flocked to Brigade Road, Church Street, and MG Road on Tuesday night to ring in 2025 amidst dazzling lights, cheerful music, and lively crowds. Midnight saw the sky burst into vibrant fireworks, echoing with the joy of revelers celebrating the New Year.
While younger crowds danced and sang along to music on the city’s streets, pubs and restaurants in Koramangala, Indiranagar, and Whitefield were packed with party-goers enjoying curated menus and exclusive drinks. Many seniors preferred quiet celebrations at home or intimate family dinners.
Ashwini, a Koramangala resident, shared, “We enjoyed a lovely dinner at a restaurant before heading home for a cozy celebration with family.”
Establishments prioritized safety with male and female bouncers managing crowds. Fahad Sundka, owner of a popular Church Street pub, emphasized, “Safety was paramount, especially for women, as most of our patrons came through reservations.”
Robust Security Measures
Police enforced strict safety protocols, dispersing crowds on Brigade Road post-midnight. Officers in plainclothes mingled with attendees to deter mischief, while drones and temporary CCTV cameras provided real-time surveillance.
Women’s safety islands and emergency health centres were established citywide. Traffic police cracked down on drunk driving, and except for the airport flyover, all flyovers were closed. Over 11,800 police personnel, including top officers, ensured smooth celebrations.
Bengaluru’s New Year festivities combined vibrant celebrations with a commitment to safety.
