Bengaluru: Wholesale commodity prices in Bengaluru remained largely stable on Friday, offering relief to traders and bulk buyers as rates of essential food grains, pulses, vegetables and edible oils showed little fluctuation across major wholesale markets.

While prices varied depending on quality and grade, there were no significant changes in the overall market trend.

Rice, sugar and cereals hold firm

Among cereals, fine rice was priced between ₹5,800 and ₹6,200 per quintal, while medium rice traded at ₹6,000–₹6,300 per quintal.

Jowar was quoted at ₹3,000–₹4,000 per quintal.

Among sweeteners, jaggery cubes were priced at ₹5,500–₹5,800 per quintal, while jaggery balls sold for ₹5,000–₹5,500 per quintal. Sugar remained stable at ₹4,400–₹4,600 per quintal.

Pulses and spices remain stable

Turmeric continued to command premium prices, trading between ₹18,000 and ₹22,000 per quintal, while coriander seeds were quoted at ₹15,000–₹20,000 per quintal.

Fine chillies recorded the widest price variation, ranging from ₹35,000 to ₹82,000 per quintal, depending on quality.

Among pulses, toor dal and green gram dal were priced at ₹12,000–₹12,500 per quintal. Black gram dal traded at ₹8,000–₹8,300 per quintal, while Bengal gram dal was quoted between ₹7,000 and ₹8,000 per quintal. Mustard prices ranged from ₹10,200 to ₹11,500 per quintal.

Vegetable prices show limited movement

Potatoes were sold at ₹800–₹2,000 per quintal, depending on variety.

Large onions were priced at ₹1,800–₹2,800 per quintal, medium onions at ₹1,500–₹2,200, and small onions at ₹1,000–₹1,500 per quintal.

Tamarind traded between ₹11,000 and ₹15,000 per quintal, while garlic ranged from ₹9,000 to ₹25,000 per quintal. Horse gram was quoted at ₹7,000–₹7,500 per quintal, and wheat at ₹3,500–₹4,500 per quintal.

Edible oils remain firm

Among oilseeds, groundnut seeds were priced at ₹14,700–₹15,000 per quintal, while copra traded at ₹32,000–₹32,500 per quintal.

For edible oils, groundnut oil (10 kg) was quoted at ₹1,520–₹1,630, coconut oil (10 kg) at ₹2,270–₹2,400, and gingelly oil (10 kg) at ₹2,310–₹4,160. Ghee (5 kg) remained steady at ₹3,260–₹3,300.

Traders said the rates reflect prevailing wholesale market prices in Bengaluru and may vary depending on quality, arrivals and individual market conditions.
