Bengaluru: A woman has been booked in Bengaluru for allegedly stalking, harassing and threatening suicide in an attempt to pressure a serving police inspector into a relationship, an incident that also disrupted official duties at a city police station.
According to police, the accused, identified as Sanjana alias Vanaja, a resident of Ramamurthy Nagar, allegedly targeted Police Inspector Satish GJ, the Station House Officer of Ramamurthy Nagar Police Station, with persistent calls, messages and in-person visits over more than a month.
Inspector Satish has been posted at the Ramamurthy Nagar police station since August 19, 2025. The alleged harassment began on October 30, when he started receiving repeated WhatsApp calls on his official phone number from an unknown number.
Repeated calls and claims of love
Police said that when the inspector answered the calls, the woman allegedly spoke incoherently and claimed that she was in love with him, insisting that he reciprocate her feelings. Initially believing the calls to be a prank, the inspector ignored them. However, the calls reportedly continued unabated.
The woman allegedly contacted him from multiple phone numbers, forcing the inspector to block several of them. Despite this, she continued to find new ways to reach him, police said.
Alleged political threats
The matter escalated when the woman allegedly contacted the inspector again, this time claiming to be a Congress worker. She reportedly told him that she had close connections with senior political leaders, including the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister.
According to the complaint, she sent photographs of herself with senior leaders, including Motamma and Laxmi Hebbalkar, and allegedly threatened to use her political influence if the inspector did not respond to her advances.
Police said that calls were later received from the Home Minister’s Office and the Deputy Chief Minister’s Office, seeking clarification on why the inspector was not attending to her “case”. Inspector Satish reportedly informed them that the woman had never visited the police station to file any formal complaint and was behaving irrationally.
Visits to police station and gifts
Despite being warned to stop contacting him, the woman allegedly visited the police station on occasions when the inspector was not present. Claiming to be his relative, she reportedly left a bouquet of flowers and a box of sweets in his office.
Police said the inspector explicitly warned her over the phone not to send such items or visit the station, stating that it was inappropriate and obstructing official work. However, the alleged harassment continued.
Blood-written letter and suicide threats
On November 7, 2025, the woman allegedly entered the inspector’s office while he was attending to public complaints and handed him an envelope. Inside were three letters and strips of tablets labelled “Nexito Plus”, reportedly containing 20 tablets.
The letters allegedly contained explicit love confessions along with suicide threats. According to the complaint, the woman wrote that since her love was not being accepted, she would end her life and that the inspector would be responsible for her death.
One of the notes allegedly contained a heart symbol with the words “Chinni love you, you love me” written in blood. The woman reportedly claimed that she had written the message using her own blood.
Police said the inspector reiterated that he was a public servant and that repeatedly calling and visiting him was interfering with his duties. Despite this, the woman allegedly continued insisting that he must accept her proposal.
Pattern of similar behaviour
Further inquiries revealed that the same woman had allegedly targeted other senior and junior police officers in the past with similar behaviour. A special report was submitted to senior officers, following which a police team visited her residence for counselling.
However, police said she did not cooperate with the counselling process, and her family members also refused to share details or assist the authorities.
Final incident and case registration
On December 12, 2025, the woman allegedly returned to the police station, raised her voice, professed her love again and threatened to die by suicide if the inspector did not reciprocate. She also allegedly threatened to damage his reputation if he continued to refuse.
Following the repeated incidents, Inspector Satish lodged a formal complaint. Based on this, a case has been registered at Ramamurthy Nagar Police Station under sections related to obstruction of public duty, criminal intimidation and threats of suicide.
Conclusion
Police officials said the investigation is ongoing and further action will be taken based on evidence and witness statements. The case has once again highlighted concerns around harassment of public servants and the misuse of threats and influence to intimidate officials performing their duties.
