A 26-year-old man has been detained by Bengaluru Police after a woman took to Instagram to reveal a social media profile that uploaded recordings of women without their permission. The videos were captured in crowded places across the city, including Church Street and Koramangala.

The woman, who realized she was among those secretly recorded, said she had flagged the clip and demanded its removal, but received no acknowledgment. As the video continued to spread, she began getting obscene messages from unknown individuals.

In her Instagram video, she accused the account of pretending to document street “chaos,” while actually stalking and filming women discreetly. She explained, “I didn’t want to go public about this, but nothing else has worked. I’m a student in Bengaluru, and a video of me was shot in Church Street in a highly inappropriate manner and shared online without my approval.”

She further alleged the page, with over 10,000 followers, routinely targeted unsuspecting women who often appeared uncomfortable or unaware of being filmed. Calling it a “grave violation of consent,” she emphasized that simply being in a public area or having a public social media profile does not entitle anyone to record her.

Unable to tag the offending account after reporting it, she tagged @blrcitypolice and @cybercrimecid seeking intervention. Authorities responded, and Gurudeep Singh was arrested as the operator of the account.
