A young professional from Bengaluru has sparked a conversation on work-life balance after revealing that she voluntarily resigned from her marketing job, which paid ₹60,000 a month, despite having no alternative career plan in place.

Diksha, who landed the role through a campus placement programme, shared her decision in an Instagram reel that has since attracted widespread attention online.

“I didn’t want the same routine”

In the video, Diksha explained that while she valued the experience, opportunities and people she encountered at work, she found herself increasingly dissatisfied with her daily routine.

She described her work schedule as stretching from “9 to 9” rather than the conventional 9-to-5, leaving little time for personal interests and leisure.

According to her, the cycle of working, returning home exhausted and waiting for weekends made her question whether the lifestyle aligned with her long-term aspirations.

Choosing uncertainty over comfort

Diksha said she eventually decided to resign without securing another job offer or preparing a detailed backup plan.

She acknowledged the risks involved but expressed a desire to explore different possibilities while she was still young.

In her post, she stated that she did not yet know what she wanted to pursue next but was certain that she did not want to spend her entire life following a routine that left her feeling unfulfilled.

Social media reacts

The video resonated with many social media users, particularly young professionals facing similar challenges in balancing career growth and personal well-being.

Some praised her courage to take a leap of faith, while others highlighted the growing pressure faced by employees working long hours in demanding corporate roles.

The viral post has reignited discussions around burnout, work-life balance and the evolving priorities of India’s younger workforce. #Bengaluru #WorkLifeBalance #Career #ViralVideo #Youth #newskarnataka
