In a tragic incident, a 45-year-old woman and her 14-year-old daughter were found dead inside their residence in Bengaluru, prompting a detailed police investigation.
According to preliminary information, the woman, identified as Suvarna, allegedly killed her daughter before taking her own life. The matter came to light after local residents noticed something unusual and alerted the police.
Soon after receiving information, police rushed to the house, recovered the bodies and sent them for post-mortem examination.
Police register two separate cases
Investigators said initial findings suggest that the woman may have first smothered her daughter and later died by suicide by hanging from a ceiling fan.
However, police have not reached a final conclusion and are continuing to examine all angles.
Officials stated that two separate cases have been registered. One complaint was filed by Chandrasekhar, Suvarna’s husband, regarding the death of the teenage girl.
Another complaint was lodged by Manjunath, Suvarna’s brother, who reportedly expressed doubts over the exact circumstances surrounding the deaths.
Motive yet to be established
Police said the precise reason behind the suspected murder-suicide is not yet known. Investigators are speaking to family members, neighbours and others connected to the family to understand whether domestic stress, mental health concerns or any other factors played a role.
Authorities are also awaiting post-mortem findings and forensic inputs.
Community left shocked
The incident has left residents of the area deeply disturbed, with many expressing sorrow over the loss of two lives.
Police have urged the public not to speculate while the investigation remains in progress.
If you or someone you know is facing emotional distress, reaching out to trusted family, friends or mental health professionals can make a difference.
