As the debate between work-from-home and work-from-office continues, a Bengaluru woman has drawn attention online by choosing a third option — working from cafés.
Harleen N, who shared her routine on Instagram, revealed how she spends her workdays at cafés across the city, citing comfort, ambience and flexibility as key reasons behind her preference.
A workday built around cafés
In the video, Harleen detailed her daily expenses and routine while working from a café. Her day typically begins with an auto-rickshaw ride costing around ₹85 to reach her chosen workspace.
She highlighted the benefits of working in a café environment, including air conditioning, a calm atmosphere, background music and a change of scenery compared to traditional office or home settings.
Throughout the day, she works on her laptop, takes short breaks and orders food and beverages while continuing with her tasks.
Cost breakdown catches attention
According to Harleen, her food and coffee expenses amount to roughly ₹700 per day. Combined with travel costs, her total daily expenditure comes to around ₹800.
While some social media users felt the amount was reasonable for the comfort and productivity it offered, others argued that such a routine could become expensive if followed every day.
Social media users divided
The post quickly generated discussion among viewers, many of whom noted that cafés in Bengaluru are increasingly becoming informal coworking spaces for freelancers, entrepreneurs and remote workers.
Some users said the setup appeared ideal for occasional workdays, while others pointed out that the availability of air conditioning, reliable internet and a relaxed atmosphere can significantly boost productivity.
The video has reignited conversations around changing work habits and how professionals are adapting to new ways of working in India’s technology capital.
