Despite spending an average of Rs 3.5 lakh daily on tree maintenance, Bengaluru continues to face significant issues with fallen trees during the monsoon. The BBMP, responsible for tree management, deploys 30 teams across the city, including one in each of the 28 assembly constituencies and two night teams. Each team, consisting of seven members, handles tree cutting, pruning, and clearing fallen trees and branches.

The teams are employed through private agencies, with the forest wing of BBMP paying Rs 11,984 per day per team. While these resources are adequate under normal conditions, they struggle to manage the increased workload during heavy rains, causing delays in clearing debris.
