A 30-year-old assistant engineer working with BESCOM was allegedly assaulted and robbed by an unidentified man inside her paying guest accommodation in Judicial Layout, Yelahanka, police reported.
As per her complaint, the woman had been living at the PG for about 15 days. On August 11, around 3 pm, she returned from work when a stranger knocked on her door. Assuming it was another resident, she opened it.
The intruder allegedly held a knife to her neck, demanded her gold bangle, and behaved inappropriately while threatening to harm her if she resisted. When she struggled to remove the jewellery, he then asked for cash.
The victim told him to take money from her vanity bag placed on the bed. While he was distracted, she ran into the bathroom, locked herself inside, and shouted for help. Taking advantage of the chaos, the accused fled the spot, allegedly stealing her two mobile phones.
Police have launched an investigation to trace the suspect and recover the stolen items
