Soladevanahalli Police Station has registered an FIR after a Maharashtra Regional Transport Office official allegedly received a threat call from a person claiming links to the ‘Bishnoi gang’.

The complainant, Prasad Shivadas Nalavade, is posted at the Mira-Bhayandar sub-regional transport office in Thane, Maharashtra. He had reportedly been assigned the task of verifying auto-rickshaw permits issued over the past decade.

Threat call during Bengaluru visit

According to police, Nalavade was in Bengaluru on April 12 to attend a road safety event when he received a call from an unidentified number.

The caller allegedly accused him of troubling auto-rickshaw drivers and delaying files connected to agents. The person further claimed that the matter had reached offices in Delhi.

Police said the caller also warned the official to increase his security and allegedly stated that details of his family had already been collected.

FIR transferred to Bengaluru

A senior police officer said the caller spoke in Hindi. Initially, a zero FIR was registered at Kashigaon police station in Maharashtra before being transferred to Soladevanahalli Police Station for further investigation.

Authorities are now working to trace the phone number used in the threat call and identify those behind it.

Security concerns rise

The incident has raised concern over threats faced by officials carrying out regulatory duties, especially in cases involving permit scrutiny and transport enforcement.

Police have not yet confirmed any direct link to organised criminal groups, and investigations are continuing.
