A Bengaluru-based chartered accountant has gone viral after sharing how months of criticism and workplace pressure led her to resign, only for her to later build a business now worth ₹1 crore.

Meenal Goel shared her story on LinkedIn, describing what she called a sustained pattern of targeted harassment by her former boss.

According to her post, for six months she was repeatedly told that her work was not good enough, despite consistently trying to improve.

Long hours, no appreciation

Meenal said the criticism followed her through meetings, reviews and projects. Believing she needed to prove herself, she began working 14-hour days, redoing presentations multiple times and even working weekends.

Despite the extra effort, she said the feedback never changed. Instead of recognition, she faced continued negativity, which gradually damaged her confidence and made her question her own abilities.

Truth revealed later

She later discovered, according to her account, that the criticism was allegedly part of a plan to make her resign so that someone else could take her role.

Meenal said the issue was never truly about performance, but about pushing her out through constant doubt and emotional exhaustion.

Eventually, she resigned from the job.

From resignation to freedom

What followed became the turning point in her journey. Rather than returning to another corporate role, she decided to start her own venture.

She later revealed that the business she built has now reached a value of ₹1 crore.

In her closing remarks, she said the painful experience taught her never to remain dependent on someone else’s approval or power.

Wider workplace conversation

Her post has resonated with many professionals online, reigniting conversations around toxic workplaces, mental wellbeing and the importance of recognising manipulation at work.

For many readers, her journey became a reminder that setbacks can sometimes open doors to unexpected success
