Bengaluru: A police search at the residence of JDS activist Mohan Gowda in Byadarahalli has led to a complaint over a missing gold bracelet allegedly worn by a woman police inspector during a confrontation at the house. The search was reportedly conducted as part of an investigation into the alleged sting operation involving former Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
A police team led by inspectors Mukharam and Kavitha visited the residence with a court-issued search warrant. According to the complaint, the situation became contentious when the officers sought to take possession of a mobile phone for examination as part of the investigation.
Argument reportedly escalates into scuffle
Mohan Gowda’s wife, Pavithra, and her friend allegedly resisted the police action. An argument reportedly broke out between Pavithra and Inspector Kavitha after Pavithra declined to hand over the mobile phone.
The disagreement is said to have escalated into a scuffle. During the altercation, a gold bracelet weighing approximately nine grams that Kavitha was wearing allegedly came off.
According to the complaint, the inspector realised that the bracelet was missing only after returning to the police station following the search.
The circumstances surrounding the alleged loss of the jewellery remain under investigation.
Inspector files complaint over missing bracelet
Kavitha reportedly returned to the residence after discovering the bracelet was missing and searched for it. When questioned, Pavithra allegedly stated that no gold jewellery had been found at the house.
The inspector subsequently approached Byadarahalli police and filed a complaint. The complaint reportedly includes allegations of obstruction of official duty and the disappearance of the bracelet during the search.
Police have begun investigating the matter to establish what happened during the confrontation and determine the circumstances in which the jewellery went missing.
According to the report, Pavithra allegedly locked the house and left after fearing that she might be arrested. Police are attempting to locate her as part of the inquiry.
The allegations against Pavithra and the circumstances surrounding the missing bracelet have not been independently established.
Case linked to alleged Siddaramaiah sting operation
The incident has drawn attention because the search was reportedly connected to the investigation into an alleged sting operation involving Siddaramaiah.
The police team’s attempt to obtain a mobile phone for examination was reportedly a key point of disagreement during the search. However, the precise details of the material being sought and its role in the wider investigation have not been established in the information available.
The latest complaint adds another development to the investigation, with police now examining both the alleged obstruction during the search and the disappearance of the bracelet.
The allegations remain subject to investigation, and the complaint itself does not establish wrongdoing by any of the individuals involved.
