British Airways commemorated two decades of its nonstop service between Bengaluru and London by operating a special anniversary flight from London Heathrow to Kempegowda International Airport, staffed entirely by an Indian cabin crew. The aircraft touched down early on Friday morning, highlighting the airline’s long-standing relationship with India and its commitment to offering personalised service for the diverse communities it serves.

A tribute to two decades of connectivity

The celebratory flight symbolised British Airways’ dedication to the Bengaluru market, which has grown steadily since the route was introduced in 2005. The airline noted that the initiative was designed to honour the cultural connection and passenger loyalty that have shaped the route’s evolution over the last 20 years.

Among those on board were several Bengaluru-based crew members who have also completed 20 years of service with the airline, reinforcing the significance of the occasion for both the staff and the city.

George Muthalaly, British Airways’ global cabin crew team leader, expressed his pride in witnessing the route’s growth.

“Being part of British Airways for the past 20 years has been an incredible journey, and seeing our Bengaluru route grow from its very first flight to what it is today fills me with great pride. I’ve had the privilege of serving thousands of customers whose stories have stayed close to my heart. We have grown with them and their families. Celebrating this milestone feels personal — it is not just about the flights, it is about the connections we have helped create between India and the U.K.,” he said.

Daily flights and expanded global access

British Airways currently operates daily flights between Bengaluru and London Heathrow, providing seamless access not only to the airline’s main hub but also to over 190 onward destinations across 65 countries. Over the past two decades, this route has become a major gateway for business travellers, students, tourists, and families, significantly strengthening economic and cultural ties between the two regions.

The airline highlighted that its Bengaluru operations remain a key part of its India network, which also includes services from Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, and Hyderabad.

Flash sale to mark the milestone

To celebrate the 20-year milestone, British Airways has launched a limited-period flash sale for passengers travelling between Bengaluru and London Heathrow. The offer includes up to 20% off fares in World Traveller (economy) and World Traveller Plus (premium economy) cabins, with potential savings of up to ₹26,000.

The airline said that the sale aims to reward long-time customers and encourage more travellers to explore the U.K. and destinations beyond, supported by the airline’s global network.

Conclusion

With a special Indian crew flight, exclusive discounts, and reflections from long-serving staff, British Airways’ 20-year celebration marks an important chapter in Bengaluru’s growing international aviation connectivity. As the airline continues its daily operations and expands its global reach, the Bengaluru–London route remains a crucial bridge linking travellers, families, and businesses across continents.
