A white Maruti Suzuki Ertiga caught fire on Outer Ring Road near Doddanekundi on Tuesday night, bringing traffic to a standstill for hours. The vehicle suddenly went up in flames around 7:30 pm, forcing its occupants to flee. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

Traffic police suspect an electrical short circuit as the cause. Flames quickly consumed most of the car before firefighters from Mahadevapura arrived. A fire tender was dispatched immediately, and the blaze was brought under control within an hour.

However, the incident triggered a massive traffic snarl, stretching all the way to Iblur. Vehicles remained stuck for over an hour as authorities worked to clear the wreckage. Normal traffic movement resumed gradually around 8:30 pm and was fully restored by 10 pm.

The incident highlights the need for regular vehicle maintenance and emergency preparedness on Bengaluru’s congested roads.
