Bengaluru: Police have registered a case against a housekeeping staff member and the management of a hospital on Sarjapur Road after a pregnant woman alleged that she caught a male employee attempting to film her inside a restroom. The incident has triggered concern regarding patient privacy and security practices at healthcare institutions.
According to police records, the incident reportedly took place on May 21 and came to light after the woman filed a formal complaint. Authorities have initiated an investigation into the matter and have also seized the employee’s mobile phone for forensic examination.
Officials stated that the enquiry is ongoing and further details are expected following analysis of digital evidence.
Incident allegedly occurred inside hospital restroom
According to the complaint, the woman, aged 36, had visited Apollo Hospitals on Sarjapur Road between approximately 12.30 pm and 4.15 pm.
Police said she alleged that while using a restroom inside the hospital premises, she noticed a male housekeeping employee behaving suspiciously and attempting to record or photograph her using a mobile phone.
The complainant reportedly confronted the employee immediately after noticing the alleged act.
Police stated that the accused allegedly fled from the location after being confronted.
Complaint raises concerns over response by management
According to the complaint filed with police, the woman later informed hospital authorities and sought immediate action.
She alleged that after she demanded access to the employee’s mobile device, hospital personnel prevented her from approaching the staff member for a period of time before the device was eventually produced.
The complaint further alleged that upon inspection of the device, certain locked folders allegedly containing obscene images and videos of women were noticed.
Police have not yet officially confirmed the contents of the device and stated that findings will depend on forensic examination.
Case registered under BNS and IT Act provisions
Varthur Police Station registered a case under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Section 66E of the Information Technology Act.
The accused has been identified as Krishna Ram Panging.
Police also included the hospital management in the case as part of the investigation process.
Authorities stated that notices had been served and that the accused appeared before investigators following official directions.
Mobile phone sent for forensic analysis
Deputy Commissioner of Police, Whitefield stated that preliminary examination had not revealed any immediate images or videos related to the complainant.
However, officials clarified that the seized mobile phone has been forwarded to a forensic laboratory for detailed examination.
Investigators said the forensic analysis will determine whether deleted or concealed data exists on the device and help establish further facts in the case.
Police stated that the investigation remains in progress and appropriate legal action would be taken based on the findings.
