Bengaluru residents are experiencing noticeably chilly mornings, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) indicating that cooler nights and misty conditions are likely to continue over the coming days.
Temperature drops below seasonal average
According to the IMD, the city recorded a minimum temperature of 14.5°C last night, which is 2.7°C below the normal minimum for this time of year. The maximum temperature stood at 27.5°C, around 0.7°C lower than average, indicating slightly cooler daytime conditions as well.
No rainfall was recorded over the past 24 hours, with total precipitation remaining at 0.00 mm. Humidity levels were measured at 75 per cent, contributing to the misty conditions experienced during the early morning hours.
Misty mornings likely to continue
The Met Office has forecast misty conditions during early mornings, which may lead to reduced visibility at times, especially during early travel hours. Days are expected to remain calm, with muted sunshine and no significant weather disturbances.
IMD officials said moderate humidity combined with cooler night temperatures is creating favourable conditions for mist formation, a typical pattern during December in Bengaluru.
Day-wise weather outlook
- December 15: Mist expected during morning hours, with calm conditions through the day.
- December 16: Morning mist may linger before gradual improvement; weather to remain mild.
- December 17: Early morning mist likely, with no major changes later in the day.
- December 18: Continued mist in the morning; visibility may improve as the day progresses.
- December 19: Misty start expected, potentially affecting early commuters; stable weather thereafter.
- December 20: Morning mist likely again, with calm and unchanged conditions later in the day.
Advisory for commuters
Weather officials have advised commuters to remain cautious during early morning travel due to slightly reduced visibility caused by mist. While no severe weather events are expected, the cooler nights and calm conditions are likely to persist for the rest of the week.
Residents are advised to keep warm during early mornings and late nights, as temperatures may continue to remain below the seasonal average.
