Bengaluru: A 19-year-old student who participated in the anti-paper leak protests led by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has alleged that he was assaulted by four masked men in Bengaluru after they questioned him about demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Based on the student’s complaint, police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) against unidentified persons and launched an investigation to trace those involved. The allegations have been made in the FIR, and the investigation is ongoing.

Student alleges attack near BEL Circle

According to the FIR, the incident occurred at around 10.30 pm on July 28 near BEL Circle in Bengaluru.

The complainant, identified as Amann Deep Singh, stated that he was walking home after dinner while speaking on his mobile phone and heading towards MES Road when four masked men on two motorcycles intercepted him.

He alleged that the attackers first confirmed among themselves that he was “Amann Deep Singh of AISA (All India Students’ Association)” before confronting him.

Alleged assault after questioning

In his complaint, Singh alleged that one of the men verbally abused him and questioned why he wanted Prime Minister Narendra Modi to resign.

He further claimed that one of the assailants struck his right leg with a wooden log, causing injuries, before the group fled the spot on their motorcycles.

The student subsequently approached the police and lodged a complaint regarding the incident.

Police register FIR

Following the complaint, Bengaluru police registered an FIR against unknown persons and initiated an investigation.

Police are examining the allegations, collecting evidence and working to identify the suspects. Officials have not announced any arrests so far.

The police have not publicly confirmed the motive behind the alleged attack, and the investigation remains in progress.

Incident follows withdrawal of protest cases

The alleged assault comes days after police in seven states, including Delhi and Bihar, reportedly withdrew FIRs against many CJP protesters, except in cases involving individuals with criminal antecedents.

The decision followed the July 25 agreement between the Centre and CJP leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka after discussions aimed at ending the anti-paper leak agitation.

Claims of harassment after protests

The report also comes amid claims by some CJP supporters that participants in the protests have faced intimidation and harassment after the agitation concluded.

Several videos circulating on social media have purported to show individuals alleging attacks by right-wing activists on people who participated in the protests at Jantar Mantar. These claims have not been independently verified.

Police have urged anyone with information related to the Bengaluru incident to come forward as the investigation continues.
