Oil marketing companies (OMCs) on Wednesday announced a significant reduction in the prices of commercial liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders and aviation turbine fuel (ATF), offering relief to businesses and the aviation sector as fuel supply conditions improve.
The price of the 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder has been reduced by up to ₹183.50, depending on the city. However, there has been no change in the price of domestic LPG cylinders used by households.
Commercial LPG becomes cheaper
In Delhi, the price of a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder has been reduced by ₹183.50, bringing the new price down to ₹2,930 per cylinder. Similar reductions have been announced across major cities.
In Mumbai, the cylinder now costs ₹2,885 after a reduction of ₹182. Kolkata has witnessed a ₹174 cut, taking the price to ₹3,081.50, while in Chennai, the price has been reduced by ₹177 to ₹3,106 per cylinder.
The price of five-kg Free Trade LPG (FTL) cylinders, commonly used by migrant workers and small businesses, has also been reduced by around ₹13, with refills now priced at ₹808.50.
Aviation fuel prices also reduced
OMCs have also lowered the price of aviation turbine fuel (ATF) for domestic scheduled airlines by approximately ₹5 per litre. The revised price now stands at around ₹110 per litre, providing some relief to airline operators.
The latest price revision comes after the Union Petroleum Ministry restored the supply of industrial and commercial LPG to pre-crisis levels following an improvement in fuel availability after prolonged tensions in West Asia.
Domestic LPG unchanged
Despite the reduction in commercial LPG prices, domestic cooking gas cylinder prices remain unchanged.
Meanwhile, private fuel retailer Nayara Energy has also reduced petrol and diesel prices by ₹5 and ₹3 per litre respectively, effectively reversing the temporary price hikes introduced during the peak of the West Asia crisis.
