A 35-year-old BWSSB contract worker was attacked and robbed by a man posing as a police officer on Thursday evening. The victim, HC Nagesh, a resident of Malur in Channapatna, was returning home after work when the incident occurred.
Around 7:30 pm, near Jayapura Gate on the Mysuru access-controlled highway service road, a man on a motorcycle stopped Nagesh’s car, claiming to check the vehicle’s documents. When Nagesh opened the door to present the documents, the attacker robbed him of Rs 14,000 in cash and a gold ring.
After the robbery, the assailant threatened Nagesh with a knife, demanding all his valuables or claiming he would be taken to the police station. The attacker forced Nagesh into his own car for a short distance before returning to the original location, leaving him behind and escaping on the motorcycle.
Nagesh, who suffered a fractured leg, is receiving treatment at a hospital in Maddur. Police have recorded his statement and are investigating the case.
