Bengaluru: A comparison between corporate life and content creation by two Bengaluru women has gone viral on social media, with many users joining the conversation on the benefits and challenges of both career paths.

The Instagram video, shared by @a.nanyaahh._ and @monsoon.dey, features Ananya, an analyst at EY, and Monsoon, a full-time content creator and freelancer. Both revealed that they graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree from Christ University before pursuing different careers.

Two careers, two different lifestyles

In the video, the duo compared their daily routines, salaries, work schedules, commuting, leave policies and job benefits.

Ananya explained that one of the biggest advantages of corporate employment is receiving a fixed salary on the same date every month. In contrast, Monsoon said freelancing often involves unpredictable earnings, with payments requiring repeated follow-ups and invoice reminders.

The two also highlighted how their workdays differ. While Ananya described her schedule as structured and well-planned, Monsoon said each day depends on deadlines and the “vibe” of the day.

Flexibility versus stability

The video also contrasted their daily commute. Ananya spends nearly an hour navigating Bengaluru’s traffic to reach work, while Monsoon joked that her commute is simply “from my bed to the desk.”

When discussing leave policies, Ananya said she must apply for leave in advance, whereas Monsoon enjoys the flexibility of taking time off without seeking approval. However, the content creator admitted that irregular work often means forgetting lunch because of deadlines.

Internet joins the discussion

The duo also spoke about the downsides of their professions. Ananya said meetings and deadlines can make corporate life stressful, while Monsoon described content creation as lonely, with long hours spent working alone.

At the same time, Ananya highlighted corporate perks such as paid leave, health insurance and gym membership, while Monsoon said the biggest advantage of freelancing is the freedom to work from anywhere.

The video has since prompted thousands of users to share their own experiences, with many saying that while corporate jobs provide financial security, content creation offers greater flexibility and unlimited earning potential for those willing to embrace the uncertainty.
