A Bengaluru sessions court has reserved its decision on Kannada actor Darshan’s request to travel overseas while out on bail in the Renukaswamy murder case. The order, initially expected on May 29, was formally postponed on May 30 by the City Civil and Sessions Court.

Darshan, who is the second accused in the case involving the alleged abduction and murder of his fan, had filed an application under Section 439(1)(b) of the CrPC, seeking permission to travel to Dubai and Europe from June 1 to June 25.

The prosecution opposed the plea, citing concerns that the actor may not return, which could disrupt the ongoing trial. Darshan, who resumed work on his film Devil after being granted conditional bail, had earlier secured court approval for travel within India. This new request seeks to extend the scope to international travel.

The murder case dates back to June 11, 2024, when Darshan, his partner Pavithra, and 15 others were arrested for the alleged murder of Renukaswamy, a 33-year-old from Chitradurga. The Karnataka police have since challenged his bail in the Supreme Court, which issued notices to Darshan and other co-accused on January 24, 2025.

As part of his bail conditions, Darshan must appear in court monthly. His recent absence from a hearing, citing back pain, drew criticism after he was seen at a film event. A fresh charge sheet filed on May 21 further intensifies the legal scrutiny.
