The Annapoorneshwari Nagar police have arrested Irfan Islamuddin, a 38-year-old notorious criminal from Umri, Uttar Pradesh, who has a lengthy criminal record, including 65 cases spanning three contract killings and several offenses under the Arms Act. Islamuddin, previously booked under the Goonda Act, was arrested in connection with a house break-in and theft (HBT) case from August 19.

The investigation took a turn when a fingerprint collected from the crime scene led police to Islamuddin, who was an undertrial in Moradabad district jail at the time. The Bengaluru police obtained a body warrant and took him into custody on November 9. During questioning, Islamuddin confessed to his involvement in the theft. He was produced in court on November 10 and remanded to 14 days of police custody, which was extended for further inquiry.

The police have recovered 1.7 kilograms of stolen gold, valued at nearly Rs 1.36 crore, which Islamuddin had pawned in locations such as Uttar Pradesh, Mumbai, and Gurgaon. His arrest has also led to the revelation of his involvement in 11 house break-in and theft cases, including six within the Annapoorneshwari Nagar area in recent months. The police are actively pursuing two more suspects believed to be his accomplices.
