Rising concern over online dating scams
Cybercrime and safety experts say cases involving fake dating profiles, extortion and robbery linked to online meetups have been increasing in several cities.
Criminals often use social media and dating platforms to gain trust before targeting victims financially or physically.
Experts advise users to exercise caution while meeting online acquaintances, especially in isolated places or without informing trusted contacts.

Officials have urged citizens to verify identities carefully before meeting strangers from online platforms and avoid sharing financial details or passwords under any circumstances.
Safety experts recommend choosing public places for meetings, informing family or friends about locations and remaining alert during interactions arranged through apps.
