A 23-year-old courier delivery worker was allegedly stabbed by four men in east Bengaluru after honking at them for blocking the road near his residence in Banaswadi.

The victim, identified as Appu, is a resident of Sathyanagar and works as a courier delivery executive.

Argument escalates into stabbing

According to the police complaint filed by Appu, the incident took place between 10 pm and 10.30 pm on May 9 on I Cross Road near his house.

Police said Appu was returning home after work when he found a group of men standing in the middle of the road and blocking his way.

When the men allegedly refused to move aside, Appu honked and requested them to clear the road. This reportedly led to an argument that quickly turned violent.

During the altercation, one of the accused allegedly stabbed Appu on the upper left side of his chest while the others surrounded him.

Accused flee after locals gather

Hearing Appu scream in pain, nearby residents and passers-by rushed towards the spot. The accused allegedly fled the area immediately after noticing people gathering.

Appu’s elder brother later shifted him to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Police said the victim survived the attack and is currently recovering.

Police launch investigation

A case has been registered under Section 118 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for voluntarily causing hurt or grievous hurt using dangerous weapons or means.

Police are investigating the incident and efforts are underway to identify and trace the accused involved in the attack.

The incident has once again raised concerns over rising cases of road rage and violent altercations in Bengaluru.
