A 55-year-old man and his wife were seriously injured after their son-in-law allegedly attacked them with a machete at an apartment in Kumbalagodu on the outskirts of Bengaluru.
The injured have been identified as Syed Ahmed (55) and Nasreena Banu (48). Both are undergoing treatment at a hospital for multiple injuries sustained during the attack.
Son-in-law arrested after brutal assault
Police have arrested the accused, Farhan Mubarak, and registered a case at the Kumbalagodu Police Station.
According to investigators, Farhan allegedly entered his in-laws’ residence armed with a machete and attacked the couple. He reportedly inflicted multiple injuries on their hands, legs, shoulders and head.
Police said the victims were struck more than 15 times during the assault. The shocking incident came to light after CCTV footage of the attack surfaced.
Marriage ended within months
Preliminary investigations revealed that Farhan had married Syed Ahmed’s daughter only three months ago. However, the relationship reportedly deteriorated soon after the wedding, leading to the couple living separately.
Police said the woman had initiated divorce proceedings, which allegedly angered the accused.
Investigators believe Farhan went to the apartment intending to confront his wife regarding the divorce. When he found that she was not present, he allegedly turned his anger towards her parents and attacked them.

Police are examining all aspects of the case, including the motive behind the attack and the sequence of events leading up to the incident.
