Bengaluru: In a concerted effort to curb the rise in violence against women and road accidents, the Bengaluru City Police have launched a special operation against drunk driving. On Friday, the crackdown yielded significant results, with 779 cases registered in a single day.

The operation, conducted across all traffic police station jurisdictions, involved over 1,200 officers and personnel. During the operation, 34,676 vehicles were inspected, leading to the seizure of 779 vehicles. Notices were issued to vehicle owners, and their driving licences were recommended for suspension.

This initiative aims to address the pressing issues of women’s safety and road accidents, both of which have been linked to drunk driving in the city. By targeting offenders and enforcing stricter penalties, the police hope to create a safer environment for all.

The successful outcome of this operation serves as a strong message to potential offenders and demonstrates the police department’s commitment to maintaining law and order while protecting the public.
