Bengaluru: A drunken brawl among construction workers in Hosakerehalli on Thursday night led to the Rajarajeshwari Nagar police registering an attempt-to-murder case against five people and arresting eight in connection with the incident.

Quarrel escalates into violent attack

According to the police, the workers, who are from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, had consumed alcohol when a quarrel broke out among them. The argument soon escalated, with the workers allegedly attacking one another.

The incident occurred on V Legacy Road in Hosakerehalli. Local residents recorded the brawl on their mobile phones, and the footage subsequently went viral on social media.

The viral video drew the attention of the police, who launched an investigation to identify those involved in the altercation.

Five booked in attempt-to-murder case

A senior police officer said the police examined the video footage along with other information and identified the persons involved in the incident.

“Based on the video footage and other information, we identified those involved and detained eight people. An attempt-to-murder case has been registered against five of them,” the officer said.

The five accused were subsequently produced before a court and remanded in judicial custody. The remaining three people arrested in connection with the incident are also being questioned as part of the investigation.

The police are continuing their probe to establish the circumstances that led to the confrontation and determine the specific roles played by those involved.

Police officials said further investigation is under way, including examination of the available video footage and other evidence related to the incident.

The case highlights how disputes among workers consuming alcohol can quickly escalate into serious violence, prompting police intervention.
