A routine visit to a milk dairy turned into a frightening experience for a 70-year-old man after two scooter-borne miscreants allegedly threatened him with weapons and robbed him of cash in north Bengaluru‘s Sarayipalya area.

The accused, identified as Mohammed Nahim (20) and Syed Waseem (26), both residents of DJ Halli, were arrested by police within 24 hours of the incident.

Robbery during early morning dairy visit

The victim, Krishna Swamy, a resident of Kempapura, was standing outside a milk dairy at around 4.30 am on June 17 when the incident occurred.

According to police, the two accused approached him on a scooter and allegedly threatened him with a knife and an iron rod before robbing him of ₹9,000 in cash.

The elderly man was left shaken by the incident and subsequently approached the police.

CCTV footage helps crack case

Investigators examined CCTV footage from the area and traced the movements of the suspects. Based on the evidence collected, police tracked down and arrested the accused within a day of the robbery.

Authorities also seized the scooter allegedly used in the crime.

During interrogation, the accused reportedly admitted to spending around ₹8,000 of the stolen money before their arrest.

One accused linked to earlier murder case

Police investigations further revealed that Mohammed Nahim had previously been involved in a murder case.

Officials said further inquiries are underway to determine whether the duo were involved in other criminal activities in the city.

The swift arrest has been welcomed by local residents, who expressed concern over crimes targeting senior citizens during early morning hours.
