A late-night altercation outside an electroplating factory on the outskirts of Bengaluru allegedly turned violent after a group of men attacked workers near Madanayakanahalli police station limits.
Police have registered a case against unidentified persons under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, related to assault, rioting, and criminal intimidation.
Incident occurred outside factory
According to the complaint filed by 27-year-old employee Abhisheak Gowda, the incident took place between 8.30 pm and 8.45 pm on May 20 at Laxmidevi Electro Plate Factory in Machohalli village of Dasanapura Hobli.
Gowda told police that he and six other workers were on duty when a co-worker identified as Afsar stepped outside the factory premises to smoke a beedi.
Worker rushed back seeking help
A few moments later, Afsar allegedly ran back inside the factory asking for help. The complaint stated that a group of men had reportedly confronted and assaulted him outside the premises.
The situation soon escalated, leading to panic among the workers present at the factory.
Police said an investigation has been launched to identify the accused persons and determine the exact reason behind the altercation.
Probe underway
Officials are reportedly examining witness statements and other available evidence related to the incident.
No arrests had been reported at the time of filing this report.
