Police have registered an FIR against two persons for allegedly tampering with the CCTV surveillance system at M Chinnaswamy Stadium on the day of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru versus Gujarat Titans IPL match held on April 24.

The accused have been identified as Manjunath (37) and Abdul Kalam (19).

Over 240 cameras went offline

According to police, the duo allegedly entered the stadium without valid authorisation by misusing a deactivated access card and interfered with key surveillance systems.

The complaint was filed by Aditya Bhat of Staqu Technologies Pvt Ltd, which provides AI-driven security support during match days.

Investigators said more than 240 CCTV cameras went offline on the morning of the match.

Security zones affected

Police said the accused, reportedly linked to subcontractor IVS Digital Solutions, allegedly damaged Network Video Recorder systems and optical fibre lines.

This reportedly disrupted surveillance coverage in important security areas including entry gates and perimeter zones.

They are also accused of entering the CCTV control room and later damaging fibre connections near a junction box in the parking area.

Possible payment dispute angle

A senior officer said preliminary investigation suggests the act may have stemmed from a personal grievance linked to pending payments.

However, officials added that the issue was detected quickly and fully rectified within an hour.

Match unaffected

Police clarified that all CCTV systems were restored before the game and match proceedings were not impacted.

Further legal action against the accused is expected soon.
