Karnataka has reported five cases of children falling victim to online games over the past four years, raising concerns over digital safety and parental awareness.
Responding in the Assembly, Home Minister G. Parameshwara informed the Legislative Council that one case was registered in Bengaluru city in 2023.
Cases reported across districts
According to the data shared, one case each was reported in Chikkamagaluru district in 2023, 2024, and 2025. Another case was registered in Hubballi-Dharwad in 2026.
The information was provided in response to a question raised by Pratap Simha Nayak K. during the recent Budget session.
Rising concern over digital risks
The reported cases highlight the growing risks associated with online gaming, particularly among children. Experts warn that certain games can expose minors to harmful content, addictive behaviour, and unsafe interactions.
Authorities stress the need for increased awareness among parents and guardians to monitor children’s online activities.
Call for vigilance and safeguards
Officials have urged families to encourage safe digital habits, limit screen time, and remain alert to behavioural changes in children that may indicate distress or harmful exposure.
The issue has also prompted discussions on the need for stronger safeguards and responsible use of technology to protect young users.
