A routine morning walk turned fatal for a five-year-old boy in Thimmanahalli, Pavagada taluk, as he was run over by a tractor on Wednesday morning.
The victim, C Varun, was the only child of agriculturalists Chiranjeevi and his wife. Around 8:30 AM, his grandfather, Shivalingappa, called him from across the road, a daily ritual that often ended with buying chocolates.
Excitedly running out of his house, Varun failed to notice an approaching tractor and was tragically crushed under its wheels. He died instantly on the spot.
The tractor driver abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene. Police have launched an investigation and are searching for the absconding driver.
