A five-year-old boy died and two other children were injured after a compound wall suddenly collapsed on them while they were playing near Bagalur on the outskirts of Bengaluru on Wednesday evening.

The deceased has been identified as Afreen.

Wall collapses on children during play

According to police, the incident occurred near Yenkanna when Afreen and a group of boys were playing close to a compound wall. The wall reportedly collapsed without warning, trapping the children beneath the debris.

Local residents and passersby rushed to the spot and helped rescue the children before they were taken for medical treatment.

Child succumbs to injuries

Afreen sustained severe injuries in the incident and was declared dead. The sudden tragedy has left family members and residents of the area in shock.

Two other boys who were injured in the collapse are undergoing treatment. Police said their condition is being monitored.

Investigation underway

Police have registered a case and are investigating the circumstances that led to the collapse of the compound wall. Authorities are expected to examine the condition of the structure and determine whether negligence played a role in the incident.

The tragic accident has once again raised concerns about the safety of ageing and poorly maintained structures in residential areas, particularly in places frequented by children.
