A foreign traveller’s glowing review of Bengaluru has gone viral after he described the city as “the only place in India that’s living in the future.”
The traveller, identified on Instagram as Jack Heaton, shared a video from his Karnataka visit praising Bengaluru’s modern lifestyle, startup culture, greenery and dining scene.
Bengaluru surprised traveller
In the clip, Heaton said he was visiting every Indian state to discover which one he liked most, and Karnataka had taken the top spot.
He described Bengaluru as the Silicon Valley of India and said he was shocked after spending two weeks in the city.
He highlighted high-end dining, green spaces, futuristic-looking temples and a thriving startup ecosystem.
Social media stereotypes challenged
Heaton also wrote that social media often portrays India unfairly by focusing only on chaos and negative stereotypes.
According to him, while some such scenes may exist in certain places, they do not represent the entire country.
He said his goal was to honestly show both positives and negatives from every state he visits.
Traffic noted, but city praised
In his caption, Heaton said he found Bengaluru highly liveable, though he admitted traffic remained a challenge.
He also praised the city’s young and hardworking residents, adding that people were friendly and welcoming.
He noted that celebrating Holi in Bengaluru made the trip especially memorable.
Internet reacts warmly
The video received strong reactions online, with many users agreeing that Bengaluru has a unique charm despite civic issues.
Some said the city’s startup energy is unmatched, while others joked that surviving traffic is part of the Bengaluru experience.
Many viewers appreciated what they called balanced travel content that highlighted both strengths and flaws.
Karnataka gets spotlight
Heaton added that Karnataka had overtaken Tamil Nadu in his personal travel ranking based purely on enjoyment and experience.
